FAQ
Why is Tracking202 free?
Here is why Tracking202 is free, and here is why even though it is free it can still generate a significant revenue stream without taking advantage of anyone's data. We are simply following the business model of one of the most successful companies in the internet industry, Google. Google provides a variety of free services that people use, you know many of them, and they have lots of products that I'm sure you use on a daily basis. Google had free a free search engine for several years and for the longest time they did not make any money, but they gained a user base, a dedicated user base, and overtime their user base became so big that they were eventually able to develop additional products and services towards their users which will ultimately made them one of the most profitable companies in the world today.
We are offering a free product like Google once did. The goal of Tracking202 per say isn't to make a bunch of money to begin with, if it was we would have charged a monthly subscription fee for it, which was the original plan. But instead we decided we would rather build a free application for the Affiliate Marketing industry, we are interested in gaining a large user dedicated user base of people who use our applications. To keep it alive during our time we are going to generate money through advertising, and negotiating referral agreements between affiliate networks for referring affiliates to them.
As all of you know hosting a website isn't really that expensive, the costs aren't extremely high. Even though I have invested thousand of dollars into server equipment and our hosting is going to be in the thousands of dollars soon a month, that isn't anything a couple good advertisement deals couldn't support. We are just simply trying to stay alive in the next year or two, and eventually come with additional products and services to our user base and generate significantly more income than we would have if we just charged for our tracking services.
That is the real reason that Tracking202 is free, I hope that explains it more clearly in-depth our reason for making a free product for the industry. Our product has had a lot of controversy about it now, and this is my answer to explain our reasons so there is no questions left unanswered to the affiliate marketing community. This is our reason, and it is the real reason why Tracking202 is free for you and anyone else to use.
If I use Tracking202, will you be able to see all my keywords?
Yes, we potentially could because in order for T202 to work, we have to store your visitors' data. However, we have an extremely strict keyword policy; we do not allow anyone in our company to look at people's data at their leisure. We believe if you entrust us with your data, it is our job to keep it safe. We do not feel that looking at our customers' campaigns is the correct way to do business. You deserve the most top notch customer service we can give to you; we should be fulfilling your needs to the fullest. If we were to look around at all of your information for our personal self gain, we would be not fulfilling our clients' needs to the highest level. If we do not fulfill our clients' needs to the highest level, we cannot hope to be in business for long. This is the internet and news travel fast. This is the most common question that is asked by everyone we've talk to. Every time this question is asked of us, "Well can't you see my information?", it becomes very obvious that this is a huge concern. No one besides the owner and system administrator has access to the database. We can assure you that no employee would ever be able to access your data own their own.
The only reason that we might look at your information is if you have a problem with your account. There have been several times in which users report bugs and we needed to login to their account to see exactly what they were talking about. However, we are in and out, and only there to fix the problem and do not stay around to look at your information. This has happened only a few times and we always ask for permission or authorization from you before we would look at your account, and will tell you when we are logged out. You will be informed if anyone is to see your data and you will authorize it before anyone does so.
You say you do not look at our information, but how can we trust you?
Unforunately there is no way that we can 100% prove to you that we do not look at anyone's data. If there was a way to prove it to you that we do not look at your data, we would happily do it, but unforunately we have no way of doing this. If you have an idea of how to achieve this, please let us know, we would be happy to comply. Can I run T202 on my own server?
You sure can, check Prosper202, it is a self-hosted version of Tracking202 and Export202.What if I have a lot of campaigns running through T202 and your server goes down?
Keeping the T202 platform live is our number one concern. Yes, you are correct. If something bad happened to the T202 system, a lot of our redirects would fail. Because we only run T202 on our own dedicated servers, we have more than five dedicated servers to process our redirects. We are hosted out of San Francisco, Califonia; however, we are also putting up a backup data center in Phoenix, AZ. So if our host in California is hit by a meteor, a floor, or whatever disaster that may come its way, we will still be live and running your data. Our host has backup generator in case their power goes down, and our main servers have two power supplies built into them.If all hell breaks loose in our main data center, the traffic will be diverted to our diaster data center. We are currently in process of setting up our diaster data center. We understand we run some extremely critical data transfers, and should the T202 platform go down, we could lose thousands of PPC dollars per hour. This is a priority concern and we are working on it. We have our own network of dedicated servers along with a full system admin on board to make sure everything goes well. We also continually monitor our sever load and make sure our hardware is adequate. We can only tell you we are doing everything we can, to make everything secure.
